I said this out loud because I don't have self control.
I don't understand how people can sit there and say they "appreciate literature", when in reality they've probably read the book one of two times. They then proceed to listen to the audio book on repeat, thus subconsciously absorbing quotes and orders of chapters whose events they glaze over in a literally superficial manner.
Why listen to it and put someone else's emphasis in your head when you could be doing so yourself? Using your imagination to fill in gaps in a character's thought, sighing in between words of your own accord.
Instead, you read the books once, and replace your imagination with an automated British accent whose voice clouds the characters in the most artificial of ways.
